Top 10 South Park Episodes of All Time (1)

park onis an absolute phenomenon of pop culture. Since it first aired on August 13, 1997, the animated show has always managed to maintain its cultural relevance while parodying and defining the zeitgeist.

Watching it grow over the years has been a wonderful thing, from the childish fart jokes and crudely drawn amination of the first series to the fantastically sly satire and still crudely drawn animation of more recent times. The show's longevity and quality control is virtually unmatched, and it's even more impressive that every episode of the show comes from the minds of just two men, creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, who managed to spark so much outrage and controversy through it's just some caricatures of school kids cut out of paper.

So far there have been 317 episodes of the show. Most of them are great, but these are the top ten in our opinion.

Top 10 South Park Episodes of All Time (2)

Mecha Streisand (Season 1 Episode 12)

If you go back to the first seasons ofpark onNow it's fun to see how picturesque they look today. It's hard to understand the pain the show's creators felt at a time when most shows were pretty much in their teens. Still, there is a real charm in these early seasons, and the most beautiful moment of these days ismecha streisand.

The story of the mysterious triangle of Zinthar that emerges in South Park and leads to an epic battle between a robotic Barbra Streisand, actor Sidney Poitier andThe cureit's Robert Smith, who naturally transforms into a giant moth creature to claim victory. It's not just a hilarious parody of Japanese monster movies; It was the first time the show had lashed out at celebrities. As such, it still stands alongside the evolved episodes today.

Chef Aid (Season 2, Episode 14)

Another early episode, and another packed to the rafters with musical guest appearances. When Chef (voiced by soul icon Isaac Hayes) finds out that Alanis Morissette's latest hit, smelly Brits,it was a song he wrote years ago, a lawsuit ensues in which Chef loses and is forced to pay the record company $2 million in damages. Many of his friends from his time in the music world show up in South Park to perform at Chef Aid and help raise funds.

An episode remembered in large part thanks to the contributions of Joe Strummer, Meat Loaf, Elton John, Ween, Primus, Rancid, Rick James and others.Ozzy Osbourne(who, of course, bites off Kenny's head). But it's really on this list because of the brilliant parody of lawyer Johnny Cochran and his defense of Chewbacca and thanks to the Chef Aid album that inspired it, which includes many of the songs listed here and other great tracks from System of a Down, Perry Farrell , contains and Master P.

Scott Tenorman Must Die (Season 5, Episode 4

Considered by many to be the best single episode ofpark on,Scott Ternorman must dieit's a landmark piece of Parker's disgusting writing and storytelling that set a benchmark for the future of the series. Essentially the story of Cartman, who desperately seeks revenge on ninth grader Scott Tenorman after selling him pubic hair.

The show ties everything together from a guest appearancespoke headto a sausage-eating pony in pursuit of Cartman, but it's the payoff at the end (which we don't want to spoil) that's so hilariously wacky you might never have seen it coming. A perfectly tight, tight, simple script and a true evolution of Cartman's character, this fully deserves its legendary status.

All About Mormons (Season 7, Episode 12)

Parker and Stone talked about their experiences growing up in Colorado with its large Mormon community, some of which inspired this episode. They also wrote the hit musical The Book of Mormon, the reviews for which are anything but flattering.

Here, the story of an overly friendly Mormon family moving to town, with the too-perfect Gary befriending Stan and leading to accusations of religious brainwashing, raises all sorts of questions about the legitimacy of the Mormon faith, but also ends with the authors. themselves holding hands against their own prejudices.

It is a fantastically nuanced text that shows whatpark onit works in the best way; skewering literally everyone while demonstrating the inherent hypocrisy of such critical attitudes. And in case you're missing all of this, the song "dum-dum-dum-dum-dum" describing Mormon beliefs is enough to justify its place here.

The Passion of the Jew (Season 8, Episode 3)

On the surface, the show discusses the extreme reactions to the 2004 film.die passion of christ, but in reality this is a prophetic look into the future.park onshe has mocked many celebrities over the years for their various bizarre behaviors, but they never predicted how a celebrity would be viewed as closely as her.die passion of christDirector Mel Gibson.

Since all the kids watched the movie, Kyle feels guilty about the way his Jewish ancestors treated Jesus, Cartman sees it as justification for his anti-Semitic views, while Stan and Kenny travel to meet Gibson. to save her. Recover money after finding the Exploitative Shit Movie.

Gibson's portrayal as a naked, screaming, shitting jerk makes everyone realize that maybe we shouldn't take him too seriously. And that actually happened some time before the actor went out of his way to tarnish his reputation with some drunken misogynistic and anti-Semitic rants. The writers are not only funny but seem to be good judges of characters.

Make Love Not Warcraft (Season 10, Episode 6)

Parodying online gaming culture, the boys are obsessed with taking down the mightiest.world of warcraftplayers on the platform. Since the game's developers, Blizzard, actually provided some of the animations for the WOW sequences, this provided an essential touch to give the whole thing an authentic feel.

While Parker and Stone clearly scoff at the stereotype of the typical online gamer, they're a little less biting here than usual, possibly due to their relationship with Blizzard that lasted long after the show.

The result is an episode that is still hilarious but actually encourages a lot of people to get involved in the game. It also gave us the now instantly recognizable lifeless online PC gamer meme, which is still used today to bring many online trolls back down to earth. So, round of applause for these guys.

With apologies to Jesse Jackson (season 11, episode 1)

It's unclear exactly when Stan's father, Randy Marsh, became a central figure inpark on, but his evolution into a mindless, irrational drunk with a more prominent role on the show has certainly led to some of the most outrageous moments in its history.

In this highly controversial episode, Randy unknowingly utters a racial slur on live television, causing all kinds of chaos; He kisses the ass of veteran black political activist and pastor Jesse Jackson, he is attacked by some anti-racist rednecks and Cartman wrestles topless with a small person while he is disturbed.Struck by diseaseplays in the background.

While it's as wild as any part of the show, there's a considered point at the heart of the story as the writers reflect on the nature of word contextualization, white guilt, and language policing.

The Imaginationland Trilogy (Season 11, Episode 10, 11 and 12)

With the success of Parker and Stone's forays into movies about Cannibal! From the musical to the legendary Team America: World Police, it seems a shame we haven't seen more full outings from the pair.

The closest we've gotten to the incredible The Imaginationland trilogy since. This three-part play ran for an hour in total and saw the boys transported to Imaginationland, where endless pop culture references to the aftermath of a terrorist attack and the government trying to stop America's imagination were brilliantly displayed.

There were also welcome returns from Al Gore, Mel Gibson, and the Woodland Critters from the Season 8 Christmas special. Despite some brutal imagery and a subplot in which Cartman demands Kyle suck his balls, this is actually a story. surprisingly sweet, with Parker and Stone creating a rather moving tribute to the pop culture that inspired them.

Medicated Fried Chicken (Season 14, Episode 3)

A perfect storm of shockingly rude humor, satirical commentary, and pop culture parody.medicinal fried chickenmanages to tick every box of what makes it greatpark onConsequence.

Inspired by the legalization of medical marijuana and the start of regulatory filings, the show compares the situation to discussing possible junk food restrictions in certain parts of the United States. When a KFC is banned and replaced with a medical marijuana store, Randy intentionally gives himself testicular cancer, allowing us to see him jumping into the store with his huge testicles, and Cartman entering the black market to sell KFC at these scenes are replicated directlyScarface. Again, the ridiculous nature of the situation is brilliantly presented in the most hilarious OTT way.

200 and 201 (Season 14, Episode 5 and 6)

You may not have watched any of these episodes in their entirety unedited, if anything, thanks to the blanket ban on the shows in most regions, but 200 and 201 deserve a spot on this list for arguably being the set piece. most challenging and controversial television show in history.

To celebrate the milestone of their 200th show, Parker and Stone go all out; brings back nearly every character in the show's history, doubling down on its most controversial moments and weaving it all together into a thought-provoking, if ultimately somewhat depressing statement.

The plot revolves around Tom Cruise and various other celebrities demanding that the residents of the city hand over the Prophet Muhammad to them. It's a bellicose refusal to bow to fear, with Kyle's fantastically scathing final monologue on the power of violence being one of the show's many censored elements.

Stone and Parker were furious at Comedy Central's refusal to run it in its entirety, though threats from radical Muslim groups and the increased security that was subsequently required at their headquarters suggest that caution was warranted. Television is rarely so brave and resilient.
